Ubuntu 20.04 - Region and Language - Input sources: Croatian keeps disappearing and slow scrolling

1. Keyboard input source disappearing problem

I keep having problem with disappearing input source (Croatian) on Ubuntu 20.04 virtual machine. I'm connecting to machine with xrdp (session xorg).

I'm able to add it and use it than after some time it just switches back to US keyboard. That goes for terminal, editors, etc.

I have to add it again (with sudo) in Region and Language - Input sources and reboot but it keeps disappearing.

I've also checked this post and did: sudo apt install --reinstall xkb-data

but that didn't help.

2. Annoyingly slow scrolling

I don't know if this issue is somehow related - when logged in over xrdp (session xorg) each small scrolling move with touchpad produces slow and jittery scrolling of larger number of rows which makes scrolling annoying. Screen switching is also very slowed down.

I have other options for session:

Tried xvnc but had various problems with display so I gave up.
